Offers Caller Choice — AI or human transfer
Transcribes and stores every call
Escalates to a live agent when needed
Handles collections cadence calls
Books appointments and sends confirmations
Qualifies leads before routing to your team
Runs overnight ghost shift — no agent required
Speech-to-text via Deepgram (Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese)
Text-to-speech via Azure (140+ languages, natural voices)

Caller Choice — A Feature Your Callers Will Appreciate

At the start of every call, Maya offers the caller a choice: "Press 1 to speak with our AI assistant, or press 2 to hold for a team member." Your BPO configures which option is the default. Most clients find that 60–80% of callers accept the AI option once they experience a fast, accurate response. Caller Choice removes the "I don't want to talk to a robot" objection before it starts.

What Maya Handles — Inbound and Outbound

Inbound Calls

  • Customer service — tier 1 repetitive queries
  • Order status and tracking
  • FAQ and policy lookups (via RAG)
  • Appointment confirmations
  • Candidate screening — initial call
  • After-hours ghost shift coverage
  • Help desk — password reset, account status

Outbound Calls

  • Collections cadence — payment reminders
  • Appointment setting and rescheduling
  • Lead qualification before routing
  • Candidate follow-up — interview confirmations
  • Survey and feedback calls
  • Proactive service alerts
  • Re-engagement campaigns

Before You Start — What You Need

Maya Voice runs through Retell AI — an enterprise voice AI infrastructure platform. You will need:

A Retell AI account (retell.ai)
A phone number — Retell provides US/CA numbers or you bring your own SIP trunk
Your Retell AI API key (from the Retell dashboard)
Access to aiscreeningtools.com — your login credentials
Note: If you need a Philippine phone number (09xx or +63x), you can connect a SIP trunk from your existing VOIP provider to Retell AI. Retell supports SIP connections from most providers. Ask your deployment partner for assistance.

Setup Steps

Step 1
Create a Retell AI Account
Go to retellai.com and create an account. Retell AI is the voice infrastructure layer — it handles telephony routing, STT (Deepgram), and TTS (Azure). You do not need to configure the AI itself here — Maya is the brain, Retell is the phone line.
Step 2
Get a Phone Number (or Connect Your Own)
In the Retell dashboard, go to Phone Numbers. You can buy a US or Canada number directly from Retell, or click Import SIP Trunk to connect your existing Philippine or regional number. Note down the phone number you assign — you'll need it in Step 5.
Step 3
Create an Agent in Retell AI
In Retell, go to Agents → Create Agent. Select Custom LLM as the agent type (not a Retell-hosted LLM). Set the LLM webhook URL to:

https://api.jobasean.com/api/voice/retell-llm

This tells Retell to send all speech-to-text output to Maya's API for processing. Set voice to your preferred Azure TTS voice (recommended: fil-PH-BlessicaNeural for Filipino, th-TH-PremwadeeNeural for Thai, en-PH-JamesNeural for English with a Philippine accent). Click Save Agent and copy the Agent ID.
Step 4
Send Your Retell API Key and Agent ID to Your Deployment Partner
Your deployment partner will configure Maya's backend with your Retell credentials so that Maya knows which agent to route calls through. You will need to provide:

· Your Retell API Key (from Retell Dashboard → Settings → API Keys)
· Your Agent ID (from Step 3)
· Your Phone Number (from Step 2)
· The main language for your call center (English, Filipino, Thai, etc.)
Step 5
Assign the Phone Number to Your Agent
In Retell, go to Phone Numbers, click your number, and under Assign Agent select the agent you created in Step 3. This links the phone line to the Maya AI agent. From this point, any call to your number will be routed through Maya.
Step 6
Test a Call
In the Retell dashboard, use the Test Call button to simulate an inbound call. You should hear Maya's greeting and be able to have a live conversation. Listen for: correct language / correct voice / accurate responses. If Maya gives generic answers, your deployment partner needs to configure the knowledge base (RAG) for your specific business.
Step 7
Configure Caller Choice (Optional but Recommended)
Caller Choice is Maya's opening prompt that gives callers the option to speak with AI or hold for a human. Your deployment partner configures this in Maya's system prompt. You specify: (1) the default preference — AI first or human first, (2) the transfer number or extension for human escalation, and (3) the escalation trigger phrases ("transfer me to a person", "speak to a human", etc.).

Consistent scripting — no agent improvisation or off-policy language
Transcripts of every call for QA and compliance review

This Maya Voice AI setup guide covers the complete 7-step Retell AI configuration for inbound and outbound call handling at $0.18 per minute. Step 1 creates a Retell AI account at retellai.com. Step 2 gets a phone number directly from Retell (US/Canada) or imports a Philippine or regional number via SIP trunk. Step 3 creates a Custom LLM agent in Retell pointing the LLM webhook URL to api.jobasean.com/api/voice/retell-llm — with Azure TTS voice options including fil-PH-BlessicaNeural for Filipino, th-TH-PremwadeeNeural for Thai, and en-PH-JamesNeural for Philippine-accented English. Step 4 provides the Retell API key and Agent ID to the deployment partner. Step 5 assigns the phone number to the agent in Retell. Step 6 tests using Retell's Test Call button. Step 7 configures Caller Choice — the opening prompt that offers every caller the option to speak with AI or hold for a human agent. Maya handles inbound customer service, order status, FAQ lookups via RAG, appointment confirmations, after-hours ghost shift, and outbound collections cadence, appointment setting, lead qualification, survey calls, and candidate follow-up. Pricing: Voice Starter $450/month (2,500 minutes, $0.21/min overage) and Voice Growth $899/month. A 7-day free voice trial precedes any paid commitment.
